Artist Statement: This pandemic winter has kept me in my hometown where I was grateful to be and to have an art practice to work on. I live in a dry cabin with a beautiful view. Nature feels very close; moose abound, wind shakes the walls. Some animals go dormant like seeds and some leave their tracks on my porch. I was inspired by this proximity that can be both comforting and unsettling. This body of work reflects the joys and challenges of the dark and snowy months, the sources of warmth and connection that emerged, the oscillations of a strange contentment and cycling anxiety I experienced as I tried to embrace a kind of hibernation; and as the days get longer, the shift towards spring and change.
